My MBU Freshman

It’s hard to believe a chapter of our lives is coming to an end. The birth of a new chapter is starting in our daughter’s life.
It was always in the future till one day it arrived. Graduation Party with an outpouring of support and friendships. Some we forgot about and new ones we’d remember.

From the day I met this young lady in the delivery room to this day of great achievement, it has been my great pleasure and honor to be part of our Sloan Melia’s journey.

As the shift begins it’s hard not to reflect on the road traveled. Let’s see we started at Play Pals at old St Joseph’s. Then grade school at Evangelical. We were on our way to Marquette but fate would have it otherwise, Sloan bet me if she got straight A’s I’d consider allowing her the go to AHS.
Turns out her major would benefit from the programs AHS offered and I am a man of my word. So four years later we now have a future PhD in the making.

Over the last eighteen years vulnerabilities in areas of my life had been challenged, rocked me to my very core. I believe God sent her to finish the journey HE started in me. To become a God fearing man, continue to grow in HIS likeness and character.
Sloan succeeded at becoming a strong woman who loves The Lord. She not only stands up for her beliefs but isn’t scared to lead by example. Thank you pastor Steven Helfrich for instilling the scriptures into our sons and daughters soul.
Oh and mommy aka “Sosa”. I could write a book on how she helped shape our daughters wise and gentle ways.
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 NIV
Remembering when I started my sanctification process I said to Sloan “ God is the only thing that matters”. She said “I know I’ve been waiting for you to join us.” It brings tears of joy just typing it now.
So proud of our babygirl Sloan. Can’t wait to watch and support this young lady as she conquers the world on her own terms.
This little clip was the last school function before graduation. I thought it looked like her walking out of the old journey and into her new one. Kinda daddy moment watching her walk out of the safety of her parents care into a new frontier.
